Description of Job
OIT ONLY RECRUITMENT: This recruitment is open only to current fulltime employees of the Office of Information Technology for the State of Colorado. Contractors currently engaged at OIT do not qualify as fulltime employees.

We’re looking for a strategic and collaborative Principal Developer to be a top team member in the operations of an applications delivery work unit. In this role you’ll help us to code, monitor and maintain workflow. You will use your expertise in applications delivery to consult and contribute with your team, and may be involved mentoring junior developers.
In this role, you will..
Consult with Solution Architects, Solution Engineers, Business Analysts, Customers, and Project Managers.
Manage Scrum process, identify and recommend changes/improvements to development policy, process.
Problem solve development issues leading to the most efficient implementation possible.
Participate in application management; streamline development processes.
Conduct code reviews with team developers.
Handle simultaneous requests of varying complexity from within OIT.
Lead a development team using an Agile methodology, responsible for assigning, monitoring, and evaluating technical tasks.

A wide salary range is posted for this position and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and state seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. While most salary offers are made within the posted range, occasionally an offer is made below or above the posted range based upon this salary analysis.
This is a skills-based job announcement. The required minimum qualifications and/or education (if substituting for the proven experience, knowledge, and skills), are as follows:
Minimum Qualifications:
Experience applying digital accessibility regulations and standards (e.g., WCAG 2.1) to business processes, content, tools, and/or documents, with the ability to provide specific examples of accessibility improvements made
8 years of experience as a software developer in progressively more complex assignments with experience managing requirements for software application development, service delivery, and customer satisfaction, or relevant experience in an IT applications/solutions delivery role.
Substitutions:
Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.
Training or Certification related to the work assigned to the position will be assigned credit towards substitution for experience and/or education, but cannot completely substitute for these qualifications.
If the minimum qualifications include a degree requirement, additional appropriate paid or unpaid experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Deep understanding of ServiceNow platforms, solutions, and technical capabilities
5 years of public sector IT experience.
ITIL knowledge preferred
2-5 years experience with the ServiceNow platform preferred
ServiceNow administration, JavaScript and common scripting languages such as PowerShell preferred
ServiceNow certified systems administrator certification
ServiceNow Developer certification
Conditions of Employment:
OIT candidates and employees must comply with any screening procedures in place at state entity locations where they might be required to perform work.
A pre-employment background check will be conducted as part of the selection process.
Positions supporting some agencies such as the Department of Corrections and the Department of Public Safety will also require a pre-employment drug test.
This position may require travel within the specified geographic area, and to locations across the state as needed.
This position may require on-call duties as needed by the position.
Supplemental Information
If this posting indicates “remote from anywhere in CO” in the title, periodic reporting to the primary state work location designated for the position is required. All remote work must be performed in Colorado.
While candidates from out of state will be considered for this role, the candidate selected for the position must relocate and reside in Colorado on the first day of their new position. There is no form of relocation assistance, financial or otherwise, available for any position. A reasonable timeframe for relocation will be established on an individual basis, while considering business needs, and determining a start date.
