Role: ServiceNow ArchitectLocation: RemoteType of position: Contract to hire Job Summary:The Lead Software Developer will be responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of new software systems. This position may also be required to update existing software and conduct feasibility studies on company systems. You will be expected to code more complex applications, create complex reports, and mentor the junior developers. To ensure success as a Lead Software Developer, you should have in-depth knowledge of programming languages, and outstanding project management skills. Must act as a technical lead.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:50% - SPC Core Technology:Utilize a variety of software development tools and other 3rd party tools to design or modify software programs, websites, applications, and reporting functions for the company.Develop both new applications and improve existing ones and contribute to software design and architecture to improve performance, capability, and reliability.Write advanced programming code and development reports.Conduct feasibility studies for upgraded software systems and review any updates to systems.Create technical documents for new software programs.Participate in all aspects of the product development life cycle from design to delivery.Follow development specifications and documentation standards.Ability to use experience, intuition, deep domain understanding and leveraging the knowledge and experience of the team and other domain experts to produce results that meet the IT strategic objectives.Participate in designing technology roadmaps.Ability to architect technical solutions.30% - IT Internal Services:Meeting with development managers to discuss software projects.Lead teams and user group meetings to facilitate and manage the software development environment for the company.Provide support to desktop support team for software installations, problem research and performance troubleshooting.10% - End User Interaction:Provide technical training, guidance, and resource support for end users and departmental staff.Secondary Responsibilities:5% - Monitor and stay current on new tools and technologies, make recommendations for enhancements, and use where needed. Perform special projects as directed by management.Qualifications:A bachelor’s degree in computer science or ten years of equivalent work experience is required.A minimum 15+ years previous experience as a software programmer preferably within the insurance industry.ServiceNow Certified Master Architect, Certified Application Developer, or Certified Implementation Specialist designation and 5+ years operating as an ServiceNow Architect within the FSO technology stack.Integration experience with REST/SOAP should be a core requirement.Experience with portal development.Experience with install and maintain ServiceNow application using Source Code Management (Application Studio).Proven expertise in designing and implementing complex ServiceNow solutions, including custom applications and integrations.Extensive knowledge of ServiceNow architecture and IT service Delivery.Robust understanding of IT Application Development processes with a programming background.A strong understanding of Agile Development Techniques and DevOps delivery models.Excellent communication skills. Excellent time management skillset. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Ability to plan, solution, develop, and test working product development team. Strong understanding of systems and software in use by departments including but not limited to: IT, Underwriting, Claims, Risk Management, Customer Service, Finance, and HR.Advanced knowledge of programming languages including HTML5, C#, SQL, and others.Knowledge of system frameworks.Advanced project management skills.Professional Liability insurance experience is a plus.Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as relationship skills.Strong ability to research & solve complex issues independently.Ability to handle multiple projects at one time and be very results oriented.Excellent organization and attention to detail, the ability to establishing priorities and meet deadlines.Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, including formulating logical and objective conclusions.Be a self-starter, motivated, take initiative and have strong inter-personal skills.
